You should read this once to understand what each of the price
columns really means.
- I've read it already,
- take me to the Manufacturers list.
I was asked to include prices from swap usenet groups and
web sites thinking that ebay generally reflects a higher selling price than
average market value.
Usenet sources are asking prices, not selling prices. While
the difference can be small the problem is, there is no way of knowing if
the item sold for the asking price.
If you think usenet prices better reflect market
value

I obtained a set of data gathered both from ebay and usenet
groups over the same period of time. ebay selling prices
were, on average, 18% higher than usenet asking prices.
Neither ebay or usenet can be compared to hamfest prices.
Hamfest prices are often significantly below market value.
This list represents several months activity
with 5944 sales of 1634 different models.
- MODEL is the type
of radio equipment, from a particular manufacturer.
- Manufacturers and MODELs are in computer Alpha/Numeric order which is not the same as
human alpha/numeric order so you may have to search around a little. Select
Manufacturer from the list below and scroll down the list to the MODEL.
- I list an item exactly as listed on ebay with no knowledge
if the model number is complete or accurate. Too many different for me
to take time to check. If you spot an error in model number e-mail me and
I'll fix it.
- SAMPLES is the quantity
of a particular model that has been sold.
- If SAMPLES is 1 there will not be a MINIMUM or MAXIMUM.
- If SAMPLES is 2 then one sold for MINIMUM and one for MAXIMUM and AVERAGE is simply the average of the two.
- MINIMUM is the minimum
price that model went for.
- If the MINIMUM is significantly less than AVERAGE it may have been described as being in poor condition, or non
working (possibly as a parts radio) or the seller was just unlucky.
- AVERAGE is the average
selling price for that model.
- MAXIMUM is the maximum
price that model went for.
- If the MAXIMUM is significantly more than AVERAGE it may have been described as being in exceptionally fine condition
(Completely restored), or it may have included accessories, or it may have
been a particularly rare or desirable sample such as Collins Winged Emblem,
or the seller was just lucky.
- LUCK has something to do
with the spread of selling prices.
- For example I listed a piece of test equipment one week
with a reserve of $50. The highest bid was $25. The following week I re-listed
the item and it sold for $125.
